Stargazers are in for a treat as November’s full moon, known as the Beaver Moon, will light up the sky on Nov. 15 at 3:29 p.m. This full moon is also a supermoon, appearing bigger and brighter than typical full moons due to its close proximity to Earth. This Beaver Moon will be the last supermoon of 2024, offering a final chance this year to enjoy its spectacular size and luminosity.

Traditionally named by Native tribes and early colonists, the “Beaver Moon” signifies the time when beavers begin sheltering in their lodges for winter. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the name also reflects the season when trappers sought beavers for their thick winter fur. Other names for the November full moon include the “Frost Moon” and the “Freezing Moon,” reflecting late autumn’s chill.

This supermoon completes a series of four consecutive supermoons in 2024, marking an end to this year’s stunning lunar displays. As Earth’s position enhances its brightness, the Beaver Moon will dominate the night sky, creating excellent stargazing opportunities. Clear skies will offer the best viewing experience, so plan accordingly to witness this natural spectacle.
