Rapides Parish, LA – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on Louisiana Highway 488 near Louisiana Highway 1199 on Monday afternoon. Louisiana State Police reported that 32-year-old Jacob Strange of Forest Hill was fatally injured around 4:22 p.m. while traveling at a high rate of speed.

According to investigators, Strange was passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone when he struck a 2011 Toyota Camry that was turning left. Strange’s motorcycle re-entered the eastbound lane, colliding with the westbound car, resulting in a fatal impact. The Toyota driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was uninjured.

State police are still investigating the crash, and toxicology samples were collected from both drivers to aid in the investigation. Authorities are reminding drivers to adhere to speed limits and avoid aggressive driving, which are leading causes of fatal highway crashes.

Louisiana State Troopers emphasize that speeding limits a driver’s ability to respond to road conditions and increases the distance needed to safely stop.
