Eastern and north-central New Mexico could see severe thunderstorms tonight, with large hail up to 2 inches possible between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The Storm Prediction Center reports that conditions are favorable for strong storms, especially as the low-level jet strengthens during the evening.
The main threat is large hail, but isolated tornadoes and severe wind gusts could also occur. Storm activity is already increasing near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, and further intensification is expected. Residents in the area should remain alert as storms move through.
