Fort Wayne, IN – Warm and dry weather will continue in Northern Indiana, raising concerns over fire safety as temperatures climb into the upper 70s and 80s early this week. With little to no rain expected and winds increasing, local authorities urge residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor burning or activities that could spark fires.

According to the US National Weather Service (NWS), temperatures will peak around 80 degrees on Monday, with a low near 45 degrees Sunday night. Dry conditions will persist through Tuesday, with high temperatures ranging from 73 to 78 degrees. Residents should also be prepared for cooler nights, with lows dipping into the 40s.

The extended forecast predicts continued dry weather with highs in the mid-70s Monday and Tuesday. Winds will increase slightly, which could further exacerbate fire risks, especially in rural and wooded areas near I-69. The NWS warns that even small sparks could quickly ignite brush fires under these conditions. Avoiding open flames and taking extra precautions when grilling or handling machinery outdoors is advised.

By Wednesday, temperatures will begin to cool, reaching a high of 72 degrees with partly cloudy skies. Lows will drop to 38 degrees Wednesday night, providing some relief from the dry spell. However, Thursday’s forecast predicts highs only in the upper 50s, with a low of 37 degrees, marking a significant temperature drop by the end of the week.
