Indiana State Police Investigating Fatal Three-Car Crash Near Scottsburg

Scott County, IN – A three-car crash near Scottsburg claimed the life of a local woman, while two others were seriously injured. The accident occurred Friday evening on SR56 and South Zion Road.

The fatal crash involved a red 2002 Ford Focus, a silver 2013 Chevrolet Impala, and a green 2014 Ford Fiesta. Each vehicle had only one occupant. According to the Indiana State Police, a Scott County firefighter was the first to arrive at the scene.

The deceased, identified as 22-year-old Catelynn Jewell Richards of Scottsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other drivers were transported to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for over four hours while officers from multiple agencies investigated. The ISP Post Crash Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.

According to authorities, the investigation is still ongoing, and specific details about the cause have not been released.
