Cassopolis, MI – Two individuals were injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in Silver Creek Township, Cass County. Authorities responded to the crash at Highway M 51 and M 152 at approximately 8:25 a.m.
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reported that a 44-year-old South Haven woman, Amanda Sleigh, was driving southbound on M 51 when a vehicle driven by Christopher Mohney, 58, of Dowagiac, reportedly rear-ended her car. Mohney allegedly failed to stop at a traffic sign at the intersection. Both drivers suffered injuries.
Mohney’s passenger, Jennifer Denton, 51, of Dowagiac, was also injured. All three were transported to Ascension Borgess-Lee Hospital. Seat belts were worn by all involved, and no drugs or alcohol were suspected. Emergency services from Sister Lakes Fire, SMCAS, and VBEMS ambulances assisted.
The investigation is ongoing, but authorities do not anticipate charges related to substance use or seat belt violations.
