Philadelphia, PA – Unseasonably warm weather will settle across Philadelphia this weekend, but residents should prepare for thunderstorms Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will reach 80 degrees on Sunday before a cold front arrives late in the day. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop after 8 p.m. Sunday. The strongest storms are predicted to affect northern New Jersey, the southern Poconos, and Lehigh Valley, with rain continuing overnight.

The storms will usher in much cooler temperatures next week, with highs dropping into the 50s by Tuesday. The National Weather Service advises residents to be prepared for lightning, strong winds, and possible brief downpours during the thunderstorms.

Sunny and calm conditions will return by Monday, though the region will remain cooler as the cold front moves through. Highs will only reach 58 degrees Tuesday, and the forecast for the rest of the week remains clear.
