Kankakee County Courthouse Hosts Fallen Firefighter Tribute October 4

Kankakee, IL – Kankakee County will honor its fallen firefighters in a memorial service on Friday, October 4, at 11 a.m. The ceremony will take place on the front lawn of the Kankakee County Courthouse, near the memorial wall.

According to officials, the event will feature the posting of the colors by Lt. Brian Porter and Firefighter Trevor Allen, followed by the National Anthem, led by Lt. Jed Beaupre. Family members of the fallen will lay wreaths in their memory.

State Representative Jackie Haas will lead the pledge, while the firefighter’s prayer will be read by Mayor Chris Curtis. Local fire chiefs, including Chief Brian Laroche and Chief Jim Keener, will read the names of the fallen firefighters. The service will conclude with a bell speech by Lt. Aaron Hubly and Firefighter Bill Haas, and a rendition of “Amazing Grace” by Kankakee firefighters.

This annual memorial honors firefighters who have lost their lives in service to Kankakee County, ensuring that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
