Omaha, NE — Nebraska residents should prepare for a weekend of extreme heat as temperatures are set to soar. Starting Saturday, Omaha will see highs reaching 91 degrees, with even hotter conditions expected Sunday and Monday. Sunday’s forecast predicts a peak of 98 degrees, and Monday isn’t far behind at 97 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service, this late-August heatwave will grip the region until mid-next week. While Saturday will see partly cloudy skies, Sunday and Monday are expected to be mostly sunny, intensifying the heat. Wind gusts up to 16 mph will offer limited relief.
By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to dip slightly, reaching the upper 80s. This trend will continue through Wednesday and Thursday, with highs ranging from 84 to 89 degrees. The week should end with a more comfortable 80 degrees on Friday.
The weather service indicates a more moderate start to September, with slightly below-average temperatures and average rainfall expected. Until then, residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged outdoor activities during peak heat hours.
