Norman, OK – The southern half of Oklahoma is bracing for another round of dangerous heat, with temperatures expected to climb into the triple digits throughout the week. The National Weather Service in Norman issued excessive heat warnings and heat advisories for Monday as temperatures could feel as high as 108°F in some areas.
According to the latest forecasts, cities like Ardmore, Lawton, and Altus could experience heat indices well over 105°F on Monday, with some reprieve expected by Tuesday and Wednesday when temperatures dip slightly into the low 90s. However, the heat will surge again later in the week, with Friday and Saturday showing highs close to 100°F across much of the state.
Residents are advised to take precautions against the intense heat, including staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged outdoor exposure, and checking on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and children. The National Weather Service also recommends avoiding strenuous activities during peak heat hours, typically from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
