Albuquerque, NM – New Mexico residents in central and eastern regions should prepare for a combination of intense heat and isolated storms over the coming days. The National Weather Service forecasts a continuation of the current heatwave, with temperatures potentially reaching record highs in areas like Roswell and Clayton.

According to the NWS Albuquerque, temperatures on Saturday are expected to range from the mid-80s in the mountains to over 100°F in parts of eastern New Mexico. Cities such as Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Farmington will see highs in the mid-to-upper 90s. These hot temperatures, coupled with partly cloudy skies, will increase the likelihood of isolated afternoon thunderstorms, particularly in the western third of the state.

The forecast predicts this pattern will persist into next week, with central and eastern New Mexico remaining under the threat of isolated storms through Tuesday. Thunderstorms may bring brief but intense rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds. Despite the storm threat, the heat will continue to dominate, with temperatures holding steady in the upper 90s and low 100s in eastern areas.
