Indianapolis, IN – Two men were arrested following an attempted carjacking of an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) detective. The arrests were made by IMPD’s Violent Crimes Task Force (VCTF) after the incident occurred on Wednesday near 52nd Street and High School Road.
IMPD detectives, who were investigating in the area, were targeted by three masked individuals in a small red sedan. The suspects attempted to carjack a VCTF detective parked in an unmarked vehicle. The detective managed to escape without injury and discreetly followed the suspects.
Detectives observed the suspects abandon their vehicle and flee on foot. A coordinated search involving K9 units led to the arrest of 22-year-old Ernest Poston and 24-year-old Jenariss Davis. Poston was found hiding in a wooded area, while Davis was apprehended near 5100 Moller Road. The third suspect remains at large.
Two firearms were recovered, along with masks and gloves used during the attempted robbery. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending through the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Poston and Davis remain innocent until proven guilty.
