La Crosse, WI – Shower chances will persist north of Interstate 94 today, while the rest of Wisconsin experiences another dry and seasonable day. Temperatures will remain in the upper 70s to mid-80s, providing pleasant conditions for most of the state. However, significant changes are on the horizon as we move into midweek.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, showers and storms will begin developing late Wednesday, with a gradual northeastward movement. These storms are expected to become widespread by Wednesday night, leading to heavy rainfall throughout much of the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Rainfall amounts are forecasted to range from 1 to 2 inches, with localized areas potentially receiving higher amounts.

The NWS also indicates a strong chance (80-90%) of overnight rain into Thursday morning, particularly across western and northern Wisconsin. Stronger storms may accompany these showers, posing a risk of localized flooding. By Thursday, the heaviest precipitation is likely, before gradually tapering off by the weekend.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the latest forecasts and avoid driving through flooded roadways. The week will end with seasonable temperatures and a return to drier conditions by Saturday.
