Albany, NY – A cold front settling southward will bring rain showers to parts of New York state, significantly impacting the weather in Albany and surrounding areas this week. Residents can expect a marked drop in temperatures, with readings running 5 to 10 degrees lower than usual on Monday.

According to the US National Weather Service in Albany, the cold front will result in rain showers throughout the day, increasing in intensity by the afternoon and continuing into the night. Areas along and south of I-90 are expected to experience locally heavy rainfall tonight, potentially leading to rapid onset flooding in some regions.

Tuesday’s highs will hover around the low to mid-70s across much of the state. Specific forecasts predict highs of 74°F in Albany and 75°F in Saratoga Springs, with cooler temperatures in higher elevations like Old Forge, which is expected to reach only 69°F.

The forecast for the remainder of the week includes more rain and cooler temperatures. Wednesday brings a 60% chance of rain with highs again reaching 76°F. Thursday is expected to be slightly warmer with a high of 80°F but without significant rainfall. The weather pattern returns to rain on Friday, with a 70% chance of showers and highs of 76°F.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday will see a continuation of the rainy trend with a 65% chance of rain and a high of 81°F. Sunday will be cooler and slightly drier, with a 40% chance of rain and a high of 77°F.
