Bettendorf, IA – A collision occurred between a train and a garbage truck near Pleasant Valley Amoco on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 12:34 p.m. when a garbage truck owned by Dump Box LLC failed to yield at a rail crossing and was struck by a BNSF train traveling toward Bettendorf. The collision resulted in the driver being ejected from the vehicle and the truck being pushed down the tracks. Emergency responders, including Bettendorf Fire Department and MEDIC EMS, arrived promptly at the scene.
The driver of the garbage truck and the train crew were transported to local hospitals. Initial reports indicate that all individuals involved sustained minor injuries and are expected to be released after treatment.
