Concordia, KS – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for several counties in northeastern Kansas, effective until 10 p.m. tonight. Residents are urged to stay alert and seek shelter if a warning is issued for their area.
According to the US National Weather Service Omaha/Valley, the affected counties include Concordia, and several others. The storms are expected to bring scattered hail up to two inches in diameter, wind gusts reaching up to 80 mph, and frequent lightning.
The severe weather could impact a population of over 1.6 million people, 780 schools, and 79 hospitals. The National Weather Service advises residents to prepare for potential power outages and property damage due to the high winds and large hail.
