Duluth, MN – The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Northeast Minnesota and far Northwest Wisconsin, effective from Wednesday afternoon until 7 p.m. CDT. Residents are urged to prepare for potentially hazardous weather conditions this evening.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, a well-organized complex of thunderstorms could produce damaging winds up to 75 mph and isolated hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter. The affected area includes regions approximately 50 miles east and west of a line from 40 miles northwest of Hibbing, MN, to 75 miles south-southwest of Duluth, MN.
The primary threats from these storms are scattered damaging winds and isolated large hail events. The weather system is moving quickly east-northeastward, increasing the urgency for residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
