Whiteside County, IL – Starting Wednesday, drivers in Whiteside County will encounter lane and ramp closures on I-88 due to bridge work. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) announced the closures will begin on July 31 and continue until the project’s expected completion in November.
According to IDOT, a posted detour will direct traffic to Illinois 40 and U.S. 30. This detour aims to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth traffic flow while bridge repairs are underway. The project is a significant part of maintaining infrastructure and ensuring long-term road safety.
IDOT advises motorists to plan for additional travel time and stay updated on road conditions by visiting their website or following their social media channels. With the project set to last several months, drivers should remain vigilant and adhere to all posted signage and detour routes.
