Davenport, IA – Eastern Iowa, including the Quad Cities, is under a weather alert with severe thunderstorms and potential flash flooding expected. A Flood Watch is in effect for areas along and south of Interstate 80 through 10 AM Monday.
According to the US National Weather Service Quad Cities Iowa/Illinois, slow-moving storms and repeated rounds of rain may lead to flash flooding. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches or more are possible, particularly in urban and poor drainage areas. Residents are urged to take action should flooding develop.
Additionally, scattered to numerous thunderstorms will continue to develop, moving east to northeast at 25 to 35 MPH through the area overnight. Some storms may become severe, with damaging winds and hail as primary threats. Heavy downpours could result in ponding of water or flash flooding where storms repeatedly pass.
The hourly forecast for Davenport shows thunderstorms continuing through the morning, with temperatures rising from 69°F to 85°F by evening. The daily forecast predicts ongoing chances of thunderstorms and rain through Wednesday, with temperatures ranging from highs of 88°F to 92°F. Thursday and Friday will see a mix of sun and clouds with a lower chance of rain, while the weekend is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the upper 80s.
