Tulsa, OK – Dangerous heat and humidity will once again persist today in Oklahoma. An Excessive Heat Warning, with heat indices surpassing 110°F, will go into effect at noon for much of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. A Heat Advisory, with heat indices between 105-109°F, will also be in effect from noon to 9 PM.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, residents are urged to take necessary precautions, especially if spending prolonged periods outdoors. It is advised to stay hydrated, dress appropriately, apply and reapply sunscreen, and take frequent air-conditioned breaks.
Forecasts indicate that temperatures will reach a high of 101°F today, with slightly lower temperatures expected in the following days. Wednesday’s high is forecasted to be 96°F, Thursday’s 99°F, and Friday’s 86°F with a 35% chance of rain.
The Weather Service’s Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) indicates a high to extreme heat risk today, with recommended precautions such as taking breaks of at least 30 minutes every hour if working or exercising outdoors.
Residents are advised to check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and young children, and to ensure pets have access to cool water and shade. Extreme heat can lead to heat-related illnesses, and it is crucial to recognize symptoms early and seek medical attention if needed.
