St. Louis, MO – Southeastern Missouri is bracing for extreme heat this afternoon, with heat indices expected to climb to around 105 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect from noon to 7 p.m., urging residents to take extra precautions against the dangerous heat.
According to the US National Weather Service in St. Louis, temperatures will rise dramatically, posing an increased risk of heat-related illnesses. Residents are advised to wear lightweight clothing, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, avoid strenuous activities, and never leave children or pets in cars.
A cold front is expected to move through the area by evening, bringing a significant drop in temperatures. Sunday’s high will be around 68 degrees, with a low of 59 degrees. Monday’s forecast shows a high of 75 degrees and a low of 60 degrees, providing a much-needed respite from the extreme heat.
The extended forecast indicates a mix of sun and clouds for the upcoming week. On Tuesday, temperatures will reach a high of 79 degrees, with a low of 65 degrees. Wednesday will see a high of 76 degrees, followed by a chance of rain on Thursday with a high of 73 degrees. The cooler trend will continue into the weekend, with highs in the low 70s and lows in the upper 60s.
