Orland Park, IL – Following a hailstorm on Monday, Orland Park residents have been approached by numerous door-to-door roofing contractors.

The Village of Orland Park is urging homeowners to exercise caution by verifying contractors through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Mayor Keith Pekau emphasized the importance of ensuring that roofing contractors are properly registered to avoid potential scams and further damage.

The IDFPR offers an online database where residents can confirm a contractor’s licensing status. Additionally, the Orland Park Police Department requires that door-to-door roofing solicitors be licensed locally and provide their permits upon request. Unlicensed solicitors face fines from the police.

For exterior home repairs, including roofing, an Orland Park building permit is also necessary. Residents can find more details about building permits on the Village’s website or by contacting the Orland Park Development Services Department.
