Walworth County, WI – On Tuesday afternoon, Walworth County experienced a significant tornado event as two twisters made landfall, causing extensive damage but fortunately resulting in no injuries.

The first of the two tornadoes, an EF-0, originated in northern Illinois and carved a nearly 15-mile path through the county. This tornado wreaked havoc as it traveled south of Walworth before ending its destructive course east of the town. It particularly impacted rural areas, where it demolished a barn and a shed. The barn collapse on the Illinois side near Weidner Rd tragically resulted in significant damage and affected several sheltering sheep.

The second tornado, an EF-1 with peak winds of 90 MPH, briefly touched down just south of Darien. It directly hit a horse barn on Wise Rd, where farmers were actively tending to animals. Despite the severity of the storm, no injuries were reported at the scene.

This tornado’s path was nearly a mile long and 50 yards wide at its broadest point. Local emergency services and the National Weather Service are conducting thorough damage assessments and advising the community as cleanup efforts commence.
