Milwaukee, WI – Residents of southern Wisconsin are under a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms today, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan.

The forecast indicates that gusty winds and hail are the primary concerns, with a low, conditional threat for a weak tornado also in the mix. Storms are expected to redevelop by noon, following the passage of an earlier line of storms that will move east-northeast over the region this morning. These initial storms, while not anticipated to bring widespread severe weather, could still produce gusts up to 45 mph, particularly southwest of Madison.

The intensity of the afternoon storms will largely depend on the amount of clearing that occurs late this morning. The weather pattern suggests multiple rounds of scattered storms continuing into the late afternoon, with the system projected to move eastward over Lake Michigan between 5 and 8 PM.
