Northern Indiana – Fatal Hit-and-Run on US 6: Pedestrian Found in Ditch, Police Investigate

La Porte County, IN – The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on US 6 on Monday morning. At approximately 6:03 AM, authorities were alerted to an incident involving a pedestrian who had been fatally struck by a vehicle. Captain Derek Allen arrived on the scene in the 11800 west block of US 6 at 6:12 AM, where he discovered a deceased adult male in a ditch off the westbound lane.

The LCSO’s Fatal Alcohol Crash Team (FACT) and other law enforcement agents responded to the scene, resulting in a closure of US 6 for a detailed investigation spanning three and a half hours. The identity of the deceased is withheld pending family notification by the coroner’s office. Authorities are reaching out to the community for additional information and are specifically seeking residents with surveillance systems along US 6 prior to the incident time. 

The investigation continues as officials piece together this early Monday tragedy.
