Virginia Man Seriously Injured Rescuing Dog on Indiana’s I-80 Toll Road

Steuben County, IN – A Virginia man, Jack Holdren, aged 22, sustained serious injuries while attempting to save his dog on the I-80/90 Toll Road in Indiana. The incident occurred near the 147.8 mile marker around 6:30 pm, as reported by the Indiana State Police Toll Road Post.

According to the police, Holdren, from Williamsburg, Virginia, was hit by a semi-tanker driven by 64-year-old Leonard Murphy of Polk, Ohio, during an emergency stop for a flat tire. Holdren was alert when emergency services arrived and was promptly transported to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. 

The dog was found safe and taken to a local shelter. Authorities highlight the critical need for safety in vehicle breakdown situations, urging drivers to remain in their vehicles and seek professional assistance.
