Mobile, AL – Drivers across the Gulf Coast are facing dangerously low visibility early Tuesday, with dense fog reducing sightlines to near zero during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for portions of southwest and south-central Alabama, northwest Florida, and southeast Mississippi. Visibility has dropped to a quarter mile or less in many locations, creating hazardous travel conditions across a wide region.

Cities including Mobile, Daphne, Foley, Crestview, and Waynesboro are seeing the most significant impacts. Major roadways such as I-10, U.S. 98, and rural highways are especially վտանգous where fog is thickest, particularly in low-lying and coastal areas. Sudden drops in visibility may catch drivers off guard, increasing the risk of accidents.

Officials urge motorists to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and maintain extra distance between vehicles. Avoid abrupt stops and remain alert for changing conditions, especially on bridges and near waterways where fog tends to linger.

Visibility is expected to improve after sunrise, but drivers should remain cautious through mid-morning as conditions gradually clear.
