Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Drivers across southeast Wisconsin could face sudden crosswinds strong enough to push high-profile vehicles off course by late morning, with gusts building toward 40 mph through the afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee/Sullivan, southerly winds will intensify between mid-morning and early evening, with the strongest gusts expected inland from Lake Michigan. Cities including Madison, Janesville, and Fond du Lac may see peak gusts between 35 and 44 mph, while Milwaukee and Kenosha hold closer to the mid-30 mph range.
The wind threat targets major roadways like I-94 and I-43, where sudden gusts could impact semis and SUVs. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items such as patio furniture and trash bins to prevent debris hazards.
By early evening, a line of showers with isolated thunder will move across southern Wisconsin, producing between 0.25 and 0.50 inches of rainfall. While severe weather is not expected, brief downpours could reduce visibility during the evening commute.
Conditions settle overnight as winds ease and showers taper off, but rivers and streams may begin rising again. More stable weather returns Thursday, though breezy conditions will linger.
