Burlington, IA – A narrow band of snow will develop after midnight, bringing up to 3 inches of accumulation in parts of southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri, and west-central Illinois before the Tuesday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, precipitation will begin as rain late tonight before quickly changing to snow as temperatures fall into the low to mid-30s. The steadiest snow is expected between 1 a.m. and 10 a.m. Tuesday, with snowfall rates briefly reaching up to 1 inch per hour.

The heaviest band is expected south of the Quad Cities, including areas near Burlington, Fort Madison, Keokuk, and into northeast Missouri communities like Memphis. West-central Illinois locations such as Macomb could also see measurable accumulation.

Snow totals will generally range from a trace to 1 inch north of the main band, with 1 to 3 inches more likely in the core zone. While most roads may remain wet initially, heavier bursts could quickly create slick conditions, especially on bridges and untreated surfaces.

Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility below one mile at times and allow extra time for the morning commute. Snow will taper off by late morning, but conditions may remain hazardous through midday.
