Omaha, NE – Snow will begin falling by late evening, with up to 4 inches expected overnight and locally higher totals that could disrupt the Tuesday morning commute across eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service in Omaha, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. Monday to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Snowfall totals are expected between 2 and 4 inches, with isolated areas reaching up to 6 inches, especially north and west of the Omaha metro.
The heaviest snow is likely to fall between midnight and 8 a.m., impacting major routes including I-80, I-680, and Highway 75. Cities such as Omaha, Bellevue, Fremont, and Council Bluffs could see snow-covered roads and reduced visibility during peak travel hours.
Because the snow will be wet and heavy, it may stick quickly to road surfaces, increasing the risk of slick conditions and slower travel times. Bridges and overpasses will be especially vulnerable to early accumulation.
Drivers should plan extra travel time, reduce speeds, and check road conditions before heading out. Snow will taper off by early afternoon Tuesday, but lingering slick spots could persist into the evening.
