Fort Worth, TX – A prolonged stretch of dangerous summer heat is expected to grip North and Central Texas through the workweek, with triple-digit temperatures becoming common and afternoon heat index values climbing above 110 degrees in some locations.
According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a strong high-pressure ridge will maintain above-normal temperatures through at least Friday. Forecasters say daily highs will range from around 99 to 105 degrees across much of the region, while overnight lows remain unusually warm in the upper 70s and lower 80s, providing little relief from the heat.
The Dallas-Fort Worth area is forecast to reach highs of 103 degrees Monday, 104 degrees Tuesday, 105 degrees Wednesday, 104 degrees Thursday, and 103 degrees Friday. Waco, Killeen, and Temple are expected to see highs from 99 to 101 degrees during the same period, while Sherman and Denison could climb between 101 and 103 degrees.
The National Weather Service says heat index values are expected to range from approximately 102 to 112 degrees each afternoon, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for anyone spending extended time outdoors.
Residents are encouraged to drink plenty of water, limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, wear lightweight clothing, and seek air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. Officials also remind pet owners to ensure animals have access to fresh water and shade.
With temperatures remaining well above seasonal averages through the end of July, residents should continue monitoring the latest forecasts and any heat-related advisories issued by the National Weather Service.
