Fayette County, IA – An 18-year-old Greeneley woman was hospitalized with minor injuries after a single-vehicle crash Monday evening that sent her car into a cornfield, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies received a report of the crash at approximately 6:11 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2026, on Cornhill Road.
Investigators said Mylee Bockenstedt, 18, of Greeneley, allegedly lost control of the vehicle. Authorities said the car left the roadway, struck a ditch, and continued into a nearby cornfield before coming to a stop.
Emergency responders evaluated Bockenstedt at the scene before transporting her to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Arlington Ambulance, Arlington Fire Department, Fayette Ambulance, and Birchard Fab & Repair, which provided towing services.
Authorities have not released additional information about what may have caused the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
Drivers are reminded to slow down and remain alert on rural roads, particularly during the summer months when roadside vegetation and changing road conditions can reduce visibility in some areas.
