Pittsburgh, PA – Wet roads and patchy visibility are slowing the Thursday morning commute across western Pennsylvania as a band of light rain pushes northeast through the region by midday.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain showers were already lifting northeast as of 8:45 a.m. Thursday, tied to a warm front advancing across the state. Areas north of the boundary, including parts of I-80 and the northern tier, are seeing drizzle, fog, and reduced visibility through late morning, while southern zones begin to dry out.
In Allegheny County and along I-79 and I-376, drivers should expect slick pavement and brief slowdowns through the late morning commute. Conditions improve quickly after noon as clouds break and temperatures rise into the 70s. Communities closer to DuBois and Clarion may remain cooler, holding in the 60s longer under lingering cloud cover.
Farther east toward the Laurel Highlands and near I-80, a brief thunderstorm could develop between mid-afternoon and early evening. While coverage remains limited, any storm could bring quick bursts of rain and localized visibility drops.
Residents should allow extra travel time this morning, use headlights in fog-prone areas, and remain alert for quick weather changes this afternoon. Drier and warmer conditions settle in by late day, but additional updates are possible if isolated storms begin to organize.
