Indiana – Water is already creeping into low spots and ditches across northeast Indiana, while gusty winds pick up, creating a double threat for drivers heading out this afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, a Wind Advisory remains in effect with gusts reaching up to 40 mph through early evening. At the same time, multiple Flood Warnings are active for area rivers, with rising water impacting parts of Allen County and surrounding communities.

In Fort Wayne, roads near the St. Marys and Maumee rivers may see water encroaching on shoulders and low-lying crossings. Drivers along I-69, US-30, and Lima Road should watch for ponding and debris blown into lanes. Gusty crosswinds could make travel difficult, especially for trucks and SUVs.

Meteorologists now tracking additional rain and storm chances building into the evening and continuing into Friday. Showers become more widespread, with thunderstorms possible and rainfall adding to already saturated ground. Localized flooding could worsen quickly in poor drainage areas.

The first weekend of April stays unsettled. Saturday brings widespread showers and storms, with rainfall totals adding up and keeping waterways elevated. By Sunday, cooler air moves in, dropping highs into the mid-40s with lingering clouds.

Looking ahead, early next week trends drier with gradual clearing, though cooler mornings may dip near freezing. Any leftover moisture could refreeze on untreated surfaces.
