Davenport, Iowa – Another round of severe storms is expected to develop Friday afternoon and evening, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, and isolated tornadoes across eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
According to the National Weather Service in the Quad Cities, confidence is increasing that a storm system moving through the region will trigger strong to severe thunderstorms, with the highest risk centered across southeast Iowa into west-central Illinois, including Burlington, Iowa City, and the Quad Cities. All hazards remain possible, though the exact timing and storm track are still being refined.
In addition to severe weather, repeated rounds of rain could bring widespread totals of 2 to 3 inches by Saturday evening. Cities such as Cedar Rapids, Davenport, and Moline may see periods of heavy downpours, increasing the risk of water-covered roads and rising creeks.
While the flash flood risk remains low overall, localized flooding in urban and low-lying areas is possible, especially where storms train over the same locations.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, monitor river levels, and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions Friday into the weekend as this active pattern continues.
