Homer Township, MI – A 70-year-old Battle Creek man was killed Sunday evening after losing control of his motorcycle in a crash in Homer Township, according to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 5:39 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, to the 2000 block of P Drive South for a report of an unknown crash.
When deputies arrived, they found a single-motorcycle crash involving a 70-year-old Battle Creek resident.
Preliminary investigators determined the motorcyclist had been traveling northbound on 29 Mile Road before making a left turn onto P Drive South. For reasons that remain under investigation, the rider allegedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to overturn and eject the rider.
Authorities said the crash was not witnessed. A passerby discovered the crash scene and notified emergency responders.
First responders immediately began life-saving efforts, but the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and a WMED Medical Examiner Investigator responded to assist with crash reconstruction, medical analysis, and the ongoing investigation.
Additional assistance was provided by the Albion Department of Public Safety, Homer Township Fire Department, Albion Community Ambulance, and the Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch Authority.
