Davenport, IA – Cleanup is underway across eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois after large hail up to 1.75 inches and isolated wind damage struck communities through Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities office, multiple severe thunderstorm reports were logged between late Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, with the largest hail reaching 1.75 inches near Washington and Wayland in southeast Iowa. Additional reports of 1.5-inch hail came from Columbus City and surrounding areas, while 1.25-inch hail was observed near Oquawka, Illinois.
Storm impacts stretched across key areas including Davenport, Moline, and Burlington, with hailstones large enough to dent vehicles and damage roofs. In Carroll County, Illinois, law enforcement reported a large tree down near the Savanna Army Depot, indicating localized wind damage alongside the hail threat.
Rainfall totals also added to the impact, with up to 1.00 inch recorded west of Davenport and 0.89 inches in Moline within a 24-hour period ending Tuesday evening.
Residents are urged to check property for damage and remain alert for additional storm chances this week. More active weather could redevelop by midweek, prompting additional advisories across the region.
