Jackson, KY – A quiet stretch of weather will continue across eastern Kentucky tonight and Wednesday before a more active pattern returns later this week, bringing increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, clearing skies Tuesday night will allow locally dense river valley fog to develop overnight. Motorists traveling early Wednesday morning, particularly in low-lying and river valley locations, should be prepared for rapidly changing visibility and allow extra travel time.
After the morning fog dissipates, Wednesday is expected to remain dry with afternoon highs ranging from 88 to 93 degrees. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-60s to lower 70s, with only a slight chance of rain.
The forecast becomes more unsettled beginning Thursday, when shower and thunderstorm chances increase to around 30% to 40%. High temperatures are expected to reach 88 to 94 degrees.
Rain and storm chances continue to rise into the end of the workweek. Friday brings a 60% to 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms with highs between 86 and 91 degrees, while Saturday currently carries the highest rain potential, with an 80% chance of showers and storms and highs in the mid-80s.
Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as storm timing and coverage may change later this week. Drivers should use caution in areas of dense fog Wednesday morning and remain weather-aware as thunderstorm chances increase heading into the weekend.
