Davenport, IA – Motorists across the Quad Cities region could encounter rapidly changing visibility during the Tuesday morning commute as areas of fog develop, particularly near rivers and other low-lying locations.
According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, fog will continue through approximately 8 a.m. CDT, with some locations experiencing visibility as low as one-quarter mile. The fog is expected to be most concentrated in river valleys and low-lying areas, where conditions can change quickly over short distances.
Communities including Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa, along with Moline, Rock Island, and East Moline, Illinois, may experience localized travel impacts early Tuesday.
Forecasters caution that drivers could suddenly encounter much lower visibility while traveling, especially near waterways and rural areas. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, increase following distance, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra travel time until conditions improve.
The National Weather Service expects the fog to gradually dissipate by around 8 a.m., giving way to improved visibility for the remainder of the morning.
