Spartanburg, SC – The threat of severe thunderstorms has ended across Spartanburg and much of the Upstate, but residents should remain alert tonight as slow-moving showers may still produce heavy rainfall capable of causing localized flooding.

According to the National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, isolated storms remain possible through late evening. While damaging winds are no longer expected, scattered showers could linger for several hours and drop heavy rain over the same locations, increasing the risk of minor flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

The Weather Prediction Center continues to highlight much of the Upstate, including Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, Cherokee, and surrounding communities, under a marginal risk for excessive rainfall. Although widespread flooding is not anticipated, localized flash flooding is possible where the heaviest downpours persist.

Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution during the evening commute and avoid roads covered by water. Rainfall rates may overwhelm storm drains in some neighborhoods, leading to temporary ponding on roadways and isolated flooding.

The National Weather Service advises residents to continue monitoring local forecasts through tonight, as additional showers and thunderstorms may develop before conditions gradually improve overnight.
