Greer, SC – A woman is hospitalized in serious but stable condition after a shooting at a Greer residence, while the suspected gunman was later found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at approximately 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, reporting a shooting at a home in the 300 block of Ponder Road in Greer.
When deputies arrived, they located an adult woman suffering from at least one gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital, where she remains in serious but stable condition, authorities said.
Investigators said the preliminary investigation indicates the woman was allegedly shot by her boyfriend, who lived at the residence with her. Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting.
Following the incident, deputies launched an extensive search for the suspect using tracking resources and a drone.
Authorities later located the suspect deceased near North Howell Road and Ridge Climb Trail. Based on preliminary observations, investigators believe the man died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains active, and no additional information has been released.
