Houston, TX – 79°F afternoon highs and 15 mph winds are shaping outdoor conditions through Saturday across southeast Texas, creating breezy travel and shifting post-front conditions. Cooler air behind a recent front is keeping temperatures below recent highs while maintaining dry, stable weather.
According to the National Weather Service in Houston-Galveston, inland areas will reach between 68 and 79°F today, while coastal communities including Galveston and Surfside Beach remain slightly cooler in the low to mid-70s. Northeasterly winds between 10 and 15 mph will persist through the afternoon, producing breezy conditions along I-45, I-10, and elevated roadways near the coast.
Skies will range from partly to mostly cloudy, with no precipitation expected. The breeze may impact high-profile vehicles on east-west routes and create choppy conditions along Galveston Bay.
By tonight, winds will ease and skies clear, allowing temperatures to fall into the low 50s inland, including areas like Conroe and Katy, while coastal zones hold in the low to mid-60s. The calmer conditions will improve travel but bring a noticeably cooler period for residents.
The cooler, dry pattern holds through tonight, with stable conditions expected into Sunday. Additional updates are not expected unless wind speeds increase or coastal impacts develop.
