Sacramento, California – Northern California residents face several more days of intense early-summer heat, with temperatures climbing above 100 degrees in parts of the Sacramento Valley before a gradual cooldown arrives later this week.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, moderate to major HeatRisk levels will continue through Wednesday across portions of interior Northern California. The hottest conditions are expected in communities along the northern Sacramento Valley, where temperatures could push well above seasonal averages.

Redding is forecast to reach 109 degrees Monday, followed by highs of 106 Tuesday and 102 Wednesday. Red Bluff is expected to hit 107 Monday and remain near 100 degrees through midweek. Chico could reach 104 Monday and stay near triple digits through Wednesday.

Farther south, Sacramento and Stockton are forecast to reach the mid-90s through Tuesday before gradually cooling into the upper 80s by Friday. Marysville and Modesto are also expected to spend several days in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees.

The prolonged heat increases the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for outdoor workers, older adults and those without reliable cooling. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit strenuous outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and check on vulnerable family members and neighbors.

Conditions begin easing Thursday and Friday as temperatures trend downward. By the weekend, many communities are expected to return closer to seasonal June averages, though parts of the northern Sacramento Valley could still see highs in the 90s.
