Buffalo, New York – Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts. A warmer and increasingly unsettled weather pattern is set to return to Western New York beginning Wednesday, bringing growing chances for showers and thunderstorms through the end of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, mostly sunny skies and seasonably cool temperatures will dominate through Tuesday, with highs generally in the 60s today and climbing into the upper 60s and lower 70s Tuesday. A brief isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out Tuesday, but most areas will remain dry.

The more significant change arrives Wednesday as temperatures warm into the 70s and lower 80s across Western New York. Breezy conditions will develop alongside increasing humidity, creating a more favorable environment for scattered showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening.

Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Batavia, Jamestown and Rochester could all see periods of rain Wednesday, but the greatest coverage of storms is expected Thursday as a stronger weather system moves into the region.

Thursday currently appears to be the wettest day of the week, with showers and thunderstorms likely across much of Western New York. Drivers should prepare for periods of reduced visibility and ponding on roadways during heavier downpours.

While severe weather is not highlighted at this time, residents should monitor forecasts for updates as thunderstorm coverage increases. Additional advisories may be issued if stronger storms become a concern later this week.
