Kankakee, IL – Residents across Kankakee County are expected to gather Sunday for the 36th Annual Rhubarb Festival, one of the area’s signature spring community events.
According to the Kankakee County Museum, the festival takes place Sunday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum campus and Bill Spriggs Civic Auditorium, located at 801 S. 8th Ave. in Kankakee.
Organizers said the family-friendly event will feature live entertainment, food trucks, local vendors, exhibits, and activities for children throughout the day. Rhubarb and strawberry-rhubarb pies will also be available for purchase by the slice or whole pie while supplies last.
The annual festival has become a longtime tradition in Kankakee County, drawing large crowds from across the region each spring. Event organizers reported that thousands of people have already responded online ahead of Sunday’s festivities.
Visitors are encouraged to arrive early due to expected crowds and parking demand near the museum campus. The event is open to the public and free to attend.
According to organizers, proceeds from festival activities and pie sales help support museum programming and community events throughout the year.
The Kankakee County Museum campus is located just east of downtown Kankakee near the Kankakee River, with additional local dining and shopping options nearby for attendees planning to spend the afternoon in the area.
