
Aurora, IL – Aurora police are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting that left a 45-year-old man injured in the city’s second reported shooting incident of the day.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers responded around 3:44 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2026, to reports of a gunshot victim in the 1100 block of Bonner Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located a 45-year-old man inside a residence suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Police said officers immediately rendered aid, including applying a tourniquet, before Aurora Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators said preliminary information indicates the man may have been injured during a shooting incident somewhere in the surrounding neighborhood before seeking help at a nearby residence, where officers ultimately found him.
Detectives with the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau responded to process the scene and investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities said detectives continue canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing surveillance footage as the investigation remains active.
Police stated no suspects are currently in custody. Investigators also said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no known ongoing threat to the public at this time.
