Indianapolis, IN – A gradual warming trend is expected across Indiana through early next week, with temperatures climbing from the 60s Thursday, May 14, into the 80s by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service Indianapolis office, mostly clear skies and dry conditions are expected Thursday with afternoon highs ranging from 65 to 69 degrees across much of Central Indiana.

Rain chances are expected to return late Thursday night into early Friday morning, May 15, mainly across western Indiana. Forecasters said scattered showers will be possible before conditions temporarily improve later Friday.

Temperatures Friday are expected to rise into the low and middle 70s across the Indianapolis metro and surrounding communities, including Lafayette, Terre Haute, Bloomington, Muncie, and Kokomo.

The greatest chance for more widespread showers and thunderstorms currently appears Saturday, May 16, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures Saturday are forecast to climb into the lower and middle 80s, marking one of the warmest days so far this season across parts of the state.

Meteorologists said the warmer weather pattern is expected to continue beyond the weekend and into early next week as more humid air moves into the region.

While severe weather details remain uncertain, residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts through the weekend as storm timing and coverage may continue to change.

Forecasters also noted that despite periodic rain chances, there will still be extended dry periods over the next several days.
