Oklahoma City, OK – A prolonged stretch of warm and mostly sunny weather is expected across central Oklahoma through the weekend before scattered thunderstorms return early next week.
According to the National Weather Service, Wednesday will bring sunny skies and highs near 86 degrees across the Oklahoma City metro area. Light southeast winds will strengthen slightly during the afternoon, but dry conditions are expected to continue across much of the region.
Forecasters say temperatures continue climbing Thursday with highs approaching 89 degrees. Gusty south winds could reach 33 mph at times during the afternoon, creating elevated fire weather concerns in parts of central and western Oklahoma.
Friday is expected to be the hottest day of the week with highs near 91 degrees under mostly sunny skies. Warm overnight temperatures in the low 70s will continue through the weekend as summerlike conditions settle across the southern Plains.
A slight chance of thunderstorms develops Friday night before dry weather briefly returns Saturday. Highs Saturday will remain hot near 88 degrees with mostly sunny skies continuing across the Oklahoma City area.
Rain and thunderstorm chances increase again Sunday into Monday as Gulf moisture returns northward into Oklahoma. Scattered showers and storms may become more widespread early next week while temperatures remain above seasonal averages.
