Calumet County, WI Fatal Crash This Morning at Highway 57 and PP

Chilton, WI – A fatal crash in Calumet County Monday morning left one man dead after a collision between an SUV and a dump truck at a rural intersection.

According to the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:11 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, to the intersection of State Highway 57 and County Highway PP in the Town of Chilton.

Authorities say the crash involved a Kia sport utility vehicle and an empty dump truck. The preliminary investigation indicates the Kia was traveling westbound on County Highway PP and had stopped at a stop sign before entering the intersection into the path of the southbound dump truck on Highway 57.

The driver of the Kia, a 39-year-old man from Shawano, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. His name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

The driver of the dump truck, identified as a 72-year-old man from Luxemburg, was not injured in the crash.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, Hilbert Fire Department, Potter Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance, and Hilbert-Potter First Responders.
