Scott County, IA – A road rage incident along Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa led to an arrest Tuesday afternoon after a firearm was allegedly pointed at another driver.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported around 4:21 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, when Scott Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call involving a confrontation between two vehicles traveling eastbound on I-80 near the 280-mile marker.
Authorities said both vehicles were moving along the interstate when the situation escalated. During the incident, a man identified as Traveon Hall allegedly produced a handgun and pointed it in the direction of the other driver.
Following an investigation, deputies located and arrested Hall. He was taken to the Scott County Jail and charged with assault with a weapon.
The Iowa State Patrol assisted the Scott County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation.
Officials have not released additional details about the victim or whether any injuries were reported. The incident did not result in a prolonged roadway closure, but it highlights ongoing concerns about aggressive driving behaviors on major highways like I-80, which connects multiple regions across Iowa.
Authorities remind the public that all charges are allegations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
